Introducing...The Happy Group!!!!

Hello! My name is Gillian Smith and I'm the founder of The Happy Group (THG). We are a for-profit advocacy that aims to bring meaning to the workplace by balancing humanity and capitalism. Since 2019 The Happy Group has been working with international clientele to perfect a productive and meaningful organizational structure. We do this by using the three principles of Dr. Frederick Laloux from his book Reinventing Organizations. These principles are 1) self-management 2) wholeness and 3) evolutionary purpose.


In addition to enhancing the humanistic qualities of working, the principles also honour the practicality and profitability of capitalism.

  • Self-management creates "a system based on peer relationships, without the need for either hierarchy or consensus".

  • Wholeness "asks us to reclaim our inner wholeness and bring all of who we are to work".

  • And evolutionary purpose invites members of organizations to "listen in and understand what the organization wants to become, what purpose it wants to serve".


We believe that people need a better, more meaningful work life, a workplace that respects the boundaries between work and life, is honest with their workers and is authentic in their intentions.

THG's purpose is to advocate and broadcast the three principles, so we as a society can break free from unfulfilling jobs and find joy in work.
